Representations of the Other in the Poetry of Ibn Mutran al-Shashi (d. 380 AH) (An Analytical Study)

Abstract

The concept of the Other occupies a prominent place in the humanities, and along with the concepts of "self" and "we," it represents an identity inherent in life experiences such as kinship, friendship, and neighborliness, or rivalry, conflict, and enmity, reflecting the diversity and varying nature and degree of relationships on the level of consciousness, behavior, and action. To address the discussion of the Other, its relationship with the Self is revealed politically, socially, culturally, and civilizationally, in a dialectical duality that cannot be reconciled (self-other). Either the Self prevails at the expense of the Other, or the Other is negated in favor of the Self, attempting to alter their trajectory by changing the relationships within the reality that humans experience
