Abstract

Phonetic anchors are among the prominent topics in phonetics, as they refer to the study of sound changes that occur in linguistic sounds when they are adjacent within the phonetic structure of a word or in the broader linguistic context. This phenomenon arises from the mutual influence between sounds, leading to the modification of phonetic features or the facilitation of pronunciation, in order to achieve phonetic harmony and ease of articulation. Phonetic anchors hold particular importance in the Arabic language due to their role in regulating pronunciation and ensuring accurate reading. Arabic poetry is rich in phonetic anchors, and in this study, we examine the poem “Mosta’qil” by the poet Mani’ Saeed Al-Otaiba, as it contains abundant material relevant to our research.
