This research aims to highlight the most prominent concepts related to the field of regional geography in order to identify the most prominent applications of this specialization, especially those related to the fields of planning and development. The research addressed the most prominent of these concepts, and also highlighted the concept of regional geography and its relationship to the disciplines of geography and other sciences. The research concludes that regional geography plays a major role in providing the planning process with the most important data, information, and studies necessary in setting development plans, as it studies, analyzes, and interprets all the components of the physical and human geographical environment and examines the nature of the relationship between them. This constitutes the pivotal point around which the planning and development processes revolve if they are to achieve the best possible results and goals. It is worth noting that regional geography constitutes the essence and purpose of geography, as it forms its identity and gives it a field of study that is not shared by other fields of science and knowledge.
