Abstract

the 9th and 10th centuries was based on Education in Western Sudan during the principles of jurisprudence, hadith sciences, Islamic thought, Arabic language, exegesis, logic, and arithmetic. Educational institutions were located in mosques, congregational mosques, and schools. The important location of Sudanese cities led to the activity of educational centers in the cities through study missions to Egypt and the Hijaz. The great role of scholars and jurists in the flourishing of education in Western Sudan was also significant. Education focused on the Holy Quran, religious sciences, understanding the principles of Sharia, and literary sciences. This helped spread Islam. The interest of Sudanese rulers in culture and thought contributed to the transfer of knowledge and culture to West Africa. Support for scholars and jurists, as well as the purchase of books, made Sudan a center of intellectual and cultural influence.
