Consciousness: Levels of Consciousness, Hawkins’ Scale of Consciousness.Abstract
No doubt, understanding consciousness contributes to improving mental health and treating cognitive disorders. Since an individual's consciousness is formed from psychological and mental structures, as well as the fundamental cultural elements of society, it represents a collection of perceptions and ideas. It also possesses the capacity to generate and construct new ideas, desires, and goals. These structures are logical and interconnected, although their connections are complex and dynamic. Human beings live in two worlds: the world of objects and the world of symbols. The world of objects comprises the material reality created by both nature and human beings, forming the physical foundation of our existence. In contrast, the world of symbols is characterized by a far greater degree of diversity and complexity This study addresses a cognitive question concerning the levels of human consciousness. In response to this inquiry, it reviews a cognitive-psychological theory that proposes seventeen levels of consciousness and explains the characteristics of each level. The study concludes with a set of key findings.
