Abstract

The investigation strives to elucidate the life of a prominent individual who played a crucial role in the intellectual development of the Ismaili movement in Yemen, namely Da'i Ali bin Muhammad bin al-Walid, who passed away in 612 AH / 1215 AD. The significance of this research lies in its endeavor to uncover his intellectual influence in order to present an accurate historical depiction of him. A comprehensive overview of his background, upbringing, contributions to the Ismaili Da'wah, and his leadership as the Da'i al-Mutlaq, the fifth among the Tayyibi Da'is in Yemen, is provided in this study. His pivotal role in overseeing the Da'wah and Da'is in Yemen is deemed crucial to his intellectual eminence. Furthermore, an examination of his intellectual and doctrinal writings illustrates his profound understanding of the Ismaili sect's principles and religious doctrines, along with an analysis of his intellectual legacy, positioning him as a distinguished figure in Ismaili thought distinguished by meticulousness and structure.
