Abstract

The current research aimed at identifying the relationship between assertive behavior and anxiety about the professional future among the distinguished middle school students, and the extent of the contribution of professional future anxiety in predicting the assertive behavior of the distinguished middle school students. To achieve these goals, a scale (Hassanin, 2021) was adopted to measure assertive behavior, and it consists of (47) items with three answer alternatives (always, sometimes, rarely). 2015) consists of (41) items with three alternatives to answer: (agree, agree to some extent, disagree). After confirming the validity of the research criteria and the psychometric characteristics, they were applied to the research sample of (200) male and female students from the sixth grade of preparatory students in the distinguished schools, by (100) male and (100) female students. assertive behavior, as well as suffering from anxiety about the professional future, and that there is a statistically significant relationship between the two variables, there is no difference in the relationship between the two variables according to gender (male and female), And to know the extent of the contribution of professional future anxiety in predicting the assertive behavior of distinguished middle school students. It turns out that there are other variables related to the dependent variable (assertive behavior) that were not covered by the current research. These variables are represented by the student's psychological status, ambition or motivation. There is also a contribution to anxiety about the professional future in assertive behavior, and it should be noted that anxiety works in a double way, as it pushes the individual to success, achievement and self-affirmation, as it is considered a source of reinforcement, and all this follows environmental determinants that interact with the psychological, vital and cognitive side of the individual, as well as learning and previous experiences.
