Envious personality and its relationship to emotional awareness among university students

Abstract

The current research aims to identify:

1. The envious personality of university students.
2. Emotional awareness among university students
3. The relationship between envious personality and emotional awareness among university students.
4. Differences in the relationship between envious personality and emotional awareness among university students according to the gender variable (male-female).
5. Differences in the relationship between envious personality and emotional awareness among university students according to specialization (scientific - human).

To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher adopted the (Abdul Amir 2021) scale to measure the envious personality, which in its final form consists of (23) items, and the (Raja 2018) scale to measure emotional awareness, which in its final form consists of (30) items. After extracting the psychometric characteristics of the two scales of validity and reliability, the researcher applied the two scales to a sample of (200) male and female students from the College of Education / Al-Mustansiriya University, who were chosen randomly.

The results showed that the students have an envious personality compared to the theoretical average, although they have emotional awareness. The results also showed that there is an inverse relationship between the envious personality and emotional awareness, while there were no differences in the relationship according to the variables of gender and specialization. In light of the results, the researcher gave some recommendations and suggestions.
