Abstract

A history of intertwined relations confirms the strength of US-Israeli relations, and that they are based on more than just common interests; they are based on religious roots, historical origins, and a common political culture. On the other hand, the critical trend in geopolitics stands out as being more flexible in dealing with this type of ideas and beliefs and the role of political elites in creating geopolitical facts that influence state power and international relations.

The research addressed the starting points of the relationship in three variables: religious roots, political history, and political culture. It relied on tracking them in a number of religious and historical sources and texts and political discourse, in addition to geopolitical and political studies that were interested in examining the origins of the relationship.

The research concluded that religious roots are tolerant and filled with geopolitical dimensions and motives; while historical developments led to linking Israel to regional and global American geopolitics, and to supporting it from a mere extremist religious group to a geopolitical nationalist group, and an advanced American military base in the Middle East; while political culture worked to unify policies and practices towards the Palestinian issue and regional issues.
