Shatt al-Arab newspaper and its position on freedom of the press (March 2, 1924- 9 January 1924)

Shatt al-Arab newspaper considers one of the first newspaper that issued by royal era in Iraq (1921-1958). Distinguishably, the newspaper is a private one and it owned to Khalf Shauqi aldawdi, it begun to issue in March 1924. The newspaper issuedfirstly in Basra province and it issued only once after it closed by the government.
Consequence, the owner visited Baghdad to issuing new newspaper with the same name called ‘Shatt al-Arab’ newspaper; arguably, the researchers have different opinions about its issuance date and continue. Therefore, the research seeks this issue by following the newspaper and its issuances. Moreover, it searches for the newspaper position for press freedom. Meantime, the country had begun new era of journalism. Particularly, during British invasion that did not issued in Baghdad in 1917 until 1921 except few. The newspaper had written as depended and private principally since the British high commissioner who took over the government. Thus, the newspaper lifetime will be short and it considers itself as critical literary newspaper, did not mention as political which led to closed it
