Abstract

The Algerian Civil War, also known as the Black Spring, is an armed conflict that began in January 1992 after the cancellation of the results of the 1991 parliamentary elections, which were won by the Islamic Salvation Front. This conflict was between the Algerian government and armed Islamist groups, such as the Armed Islamic Group and the Islamic Front for Armed Jihad ¹.

The causes of the civil war in Algeria are due to several factors, including:

- Persecution and discrimination: Feelings of persecution and discrimination by the Algerian government against Islamists and their sympathizers.

- Loneliness and isolation: Feelings of loneliness and isolation by some individuals and groups who were dissatisfied with the government.

- Psychological disorders: Some individuals suffer from psychological disorders such as depression and anxiety.

From the Libyan position on the civil war in Algeria, it seems that Libya supported the armed Islamist groups in Algeria, especially at the beginning. However, after that, there was no clear information about Libya's armed support for the rebel groups ¹.

The consequences of the civil war in Algeria were devastating, with an estimated death toll of about 150,000 people, and many regions and cities were destroyed. The war also led to the collapse of the Algerian economy and the deterioration of the social and political conditions in the country
