Classification of landforms in Kirkuk Governorate

Abstract

The research deals with the classification of land forms in Kirkuk governorate into geomorphological units according to their origin, in preparation for their evaluation, and thus determining the optimal use that matches the characteristics of the shape of the earth’s surface and its natural environment for its full investment, taking into account the sustainability of this use, by providing an initial database that helps workers in this field.

Through this study distinguishes three types of geomorphological units in the study area included those secondary divisions of units. First, unit of Structural-Denudation Origin included (1. Hogback & Cuesta), secondly Unit of Denudation Origin included (1. Bad land, 2. Glaci), Third, Unit of Depositional Origin included (1. River Terraces, 2. Flood plains, 3. Depression Deposit)
