Abstract

The present study aims to examine the effect of a counseling program based on Reality Therapy Theory on reducing identity crisis among adolescent girls. Identity crisis is defined as a state of psychological tension experienced by adolescents as a result of conflicts between social roles and their attempts to reconcile others’ expectations with their own desires, which may lead to cognitive confusion, ambiguity in self-perception, a weakened sense of belonging, or excessive dependence on others, The researchers adopted a quasi-experimental pre-test–post-test design with two groups (experimental and control). The experimental group participated in a counseling program based on Reality Therapy Theory, whereas the control group did not receive any counseling intervention. The program consisted of ten counseling sessions designed according to the principles of Reality Therapy, with every two sessions addressing one domain of the identity crisis, To meet the research objectives, the researchers developed an Identity Crisis Scale, and its psychometric properties, including validity and reliability, were verified. The research sample consisted of 24 adolescent girls who exhibited signs of identity crisis. The counseling program was constructed based on Glasser’s Reality Therapy Theory. The study concluded with several recommendations and suggestions
