Abstract

Theresearch aims to know the human losses caused by traffic accidents In the central Euphrates governorates of Iraq, represented by accident deaths in each of the governorates (Babylon, Karbala, Najaf, Al-Qadisiyah, Al-Muthanna), The research used some statistical indicators of traffic accidents In order to know the number of accident deaths in each governorate Depending on the nature of the accident, gender, and degree of seriousness of the accident In addition to knowing the reasons that contributed to its occurrence, represented by the path, The vehicle, the driver, and the pedestrian, The research relied on the analytical method and the quantitative method. The descriptive approach is used in its analysis of traffic accident deaths In (the study area) for the year (2023), The research also reached a number of results Based on the latest data issued From the relevant authorities Among them, traffic accident deaths amounted to (792) accidents Deaths were the most common in collision accidents, amounting to (439) accidents Babil Governorate came with the highest number of deaths in the Middle Euphrates region, amounting to (656) accidents. While (204) accidents occurred in Al-Muthanna Governorate It is the lowest in terms of collision accidents. The number of traffic accident deaths by gender reached (668). Of male incidents While it reached (178) accidents for females All traffic accidents in the study area have negative consequences It represents the loss of the lives of passengers, drivers and pedestrians In addition to material damage to vehicles and the road. The research suggested that compliance with traffic laws and regulations It is considered one of the most important solutions to reduce the problem of traffic accident deaths in any geographical area, including (the study area).
