Abstract

The phenomenon of extremism, especially religious and intellectual extremism, is a dangerous phenomenon that the Islamic nation is going through. It is not a contemporary phenomenon, but rather extends to distant eras in human history, in various forms and methods. It had and still has unacceptable effects and results, and sometimes it is disastrous for its owners and their societies. Therefore, a serious stance must be taken towards this phenomenon, revealing its roots, examining its causes and goals, and responding to the doubts that its owners have taken as justification for them. In this research, an attempt is made to establish the position of the Qur’an and the pure Sunnah regarding extremism. I ask God to guide the steps and avoid excess and error, for He is capable of whatever He wills. For all these combined reasons, I decided to write about: (Extremism and its ruling as a contemporary jurisprudential study), in an attempt to understand how Islamic jurisprudence has dealt with extremism, as this phenomenon cannot be treated from one side, but rather, legal, security and educational efforts must be combined to treat it, and each approach has its role assigned to it to correct behavior and intellectual deviations. The analytical approach was chosen to present the information and narratives, where the narratives were first presented and then discussed. The first section, titled "Extremism and Its Causes," comprises two sections. The first section defines extremism linguistically and technically, while the second section examines its causes, the occurrence of extremism (extremism) in the Quran and Sunnah, and manifestations of extremism.
