Content analysis of geography books for middle school according to visual thinking skills

Abstract

The current research aims to identify (analyze the content of geography books for the preparatory stage according to visual thinking skills) and to investigate the inclusion of visual thinking skills in geography books for the preparatory stage. Geography for the preparatory stage to be studied for the academic year (2022-2023) A list of visual thinking skills was prepared. The list of skills consisted of (five) main skills and (30) indicators. Depending on the unit of visual form for analysis، and repetition as a unit for counting، geography books for the preparatory stage were analyzed، and the stability of the analysis was confirmed with the help of other analysts، and then it was Re-analysis by the two researchers after a period of time has passed، to ensure the stability of the analysis، and the stability of the analysis was obtained at a rate ranging from (80%-94%) using the Holsty equation The results revealed that the geography books for the preparatory stage were characterized by a discrepancy in visual thinking skills، as the book “Natural Geography” for the fifth literary grade came in the first place with (220) repetitions with a rate of (48%)، then the book “Foundations of Geography and Its Techniques” came in the second place with (130). ) frequency with a rate of (29%)، and the human geography book for the sixth grade came last with (105) repetitions and a rate of (23%). Some recommendations and suggestions were put forward in light of the research results.
