Abstract

The city of Baghdad has grown for a long time at a rapid rate that is not compatible with the growth of its functions and services, which reflected negatively on its residents, as political and economic factors played an important role in creating the motives for its growth in an unplanned and chaotic manner, so the natural functions of the city were disrupted and life in it turned into a bundle of crises and bottlenecks in It has become commonplace to live with crises of lack of drinking water, lack of services and utilities, suffocation of transportation, proliferation of shantytowns, rising housing costs, increasing unemployment, exacerbation of urban poverty, and the constant search of most of the population for the minimum level of decent life in a frantic atmosphere. Overpopulation, horrific deterioration of the urban environment.

It is certain that these deteriorating conditions in the city represent a fertile ground for generating many social problems, perhaps foremost of which are: the social factional multiplicity that is characterized by sharp contradiction, excessive sensitivity, material conflict, and cultural and intellectual difference. urbanization in general, and then produce various types of exclusion, social alienation, and civilizational retreat in all its forms.

The challenge posed by urbanization lies not only in demographic change, but also, in a broader way, in confronting and investing in the growing economic, political, social and cultural importance of cities, and there are, in our country, Iraq, wide opportunities available to improve the quality of urban life, and citizens have the right to Ultimately, they aspire for their urban environment to be their "living, working, and fun" place. Achieving this aspiration depends on the good management of the urban environment and the effectiveness of urban policies in facilitating access to adequate shelter, work and basic services, and in securing a safe and clean environment. , and civil society - in the process of urban development.

And because these problems burdened the city and changed the compass of its progress in the wrong direction, and this is what we wanted to reveal here in an attempt to analyze the problems of the city of Baghdad and the possibility of fixing what can be fixed. Diagnosing the defect for us certainly plays a major role in reform because we always do not admit the error, which we establish from where we do not We know and then the solutions are lost, we ask God for help and success, and from Him is payment.
