Abstract

     Personality is the important and basic aspect in studying all psychological aspects of individuals. The narcissistic trait has become present in all individuals nowadays, but it varies in levels from one individual to another. It has been noted that the narcissistic personality has aroused the interests of researchers specializing in the field of psychology because it carries more than one trait. One of these traits is the trait of narcissistic rivalry, and that narcissistic rivalry may be normal or a disorder.

The researchers built a measure of levels of narcissistic competition, relying on the model of Buck et al. (2018), and built a measure of school excellence, relying on McCland’s theory (1974). The two measures were applied to middle school students in the Diwaniyah Education Directorate, for the academic year (2023/2024). The most prominent results that were obtained Reaching it.

3- There is a statistically significant correlation between levels of narcissistic competition and academic excellence.

4_ There are no statistically significant differences between the levels of narcissistic competition and academic excellence depending on the variable of gender (males, females) and specialization (scientific, humanities).
