The effect of the conscious understanding method in reducing grief among orphans

Abstract

   The current research aims to identify the effect of the conscious understanding method in reducing grief among orphans by testing the following hypotheses:

 The first hypothesis: - There are no statistically significant differences at the level (0.5) between the mean scores of the orphans of the experimental group and the control group in the post-test on the sadness scale.

 The second hypothesis: The counseling method (conscious understanding) has no effect in reducing grief among orphans.

 In order to achieve the goal of the research and its hypotheses، the experimental approach was chosen، and the current research community was identified with orphaned female students in the secondary stage of the schools located in Hilla and affiliated with the General Directorate of Education of Babylon for the academic year (2022-2023)، whose number is (695) students، and the grief scale prepared by the researchers was used according to  Worden's theory (Worden 1987) for data collection was applied to the sample of (400) female students، and the data was processed using a number of statistical methods، and the results showed the presence of sadness among the sample، and based on the results، the researchers built a counseling program according to the method of conscious understanding and presented it to  A group of arbitrators، and it was applied to the experiment sample، which consisted of (20) female orphan students، at a rate of 12 ten sessions. After completing the application of the program and extracting the results، the study came out with a number of recommendations and proposals.
