Abstract

The Palestinian cause occupied a significant space in the policies of many Arab political leaders, including Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, for whom it held a distinguished place in his country’s foreign policy. It was also a recurring topic in his speeches and internal meetings, driven by the hope of finding a solution and resolution to the conflict while fulfilling his role as an Arab leader regarding the Palestinian issue.

Yemen, in particular, has been and continues to be one of the countries that could contribute to taking a position on the Palestinian cause, given its geographical location and its relations with influential countries. Additionally, it played a direct Arab role in the Palestinian issue during Arab summit meetings.

As a result of these factors, the research period is considered one of the most significant in addressing initiatives for resolving the Palestinian conflict. Moreover, Arab and international parties were involved in efforts to establish a formula for agreement between the conflicting sides. However, Zionist intransigence in reaching a settlement prevented an agreement and led to the failure of sustaining accords between the Palestinian and Zionist sides.

Furthermore, the sensitivity of the period, marked by significant events in the Arab region, along with the intervention of various parties in the conflict, could have contributed to finding a solution to the Palestinian issue.
