Fear of negative social evaluation and its relationship with moral attentiveness in university students

The present study aims to identify fear of negative social evaluation among university students, examine moral attentiveness in university students, and determine the strength and direction of the relationship between fear of negative social evaluation and moral attentiveness. To achieve the study’s objectives, the researchers selected a sample of )600(male and female students from Al-Mustansiriya University for the )2023/2024(academic year using a stratified random sampling method. The statistical analysis sample consisted of )400(students, chosen in the same manner. The researchers adopted Leary’s (1983) Fear of Negative Social Evaluation Scale and Reynolds’ (2008) Moral Attentiveness Scale. After verifying the psychometric properties of the scales and employing appropriate statistical methods, the researchers reached several findings and provided a set of conclusions, recommendations, and suggestions.
