Abstract

The research addressed the augmented triliteral verb in its various forms: augmented with one letter, two letters, and three letters. I listed the structures of the augmented triliteral verb in the poet's collection of poems, and analyzed the verbs in the poet's collection morphologically and semantically. The research methodology was to define morphology in language and terminology. We then elaborated on the morphological structures and their importance, and highlighted the basic characteristics and rules of these structures. This resulted in examining their semantic impact according to what is mentioned in morphological and linguistic books, indicating the connotations of each structure. The most important finding we reached was the close relationship between the morphological structure and the meaning associated with it. Furthermore, the research demonstrated how the augmented triliteral verb structures can add dimensions of meaning through the augmented letters that occur in them. Therefore, we can say that this research can be considered a pivotal step toward understanding the connotations of morphological structures in Arabic poetry.
