Abstract

Economic underdevelopment is one of the major challenges facing contemporary Islamic societies. The Islamic thinker Muhammad Baqir Al-Sadr addressed this issue from a comprehensive Islamic perspective. This research aims to analyze Al-Sadr’s view on the causes of economic underdevelopment, which he attributes to the absence of a just economic system and the dominance of capitalist and socialist models that are incompatible with the Islamic context. The study also examines the solutions proposed by Al-Sadr to address this issue, most notably the implementation of an Islamic economic system based on the principles of social justice and economic solidarity, as well as the role of the state in achieving a balance between individuals and society. The research highlights the significance of Al-Sadr’s ideas in presenting an independent economic model capable of achieving sustainable development،The study concludes that Al-Sadr’s thought offers genuine alternatives to combat economic underdevelopment through approaches that integrate Islamic values with modern economic mechanisms.
