Abstract

The Assyrian state's policy during the period (911-612 BC) was characterized by the policy of "burned cities," which embodied a dramatic shift in military and political thought during that period. This policy reflected the ability to destroy lands and cities as an indicator of tremendous military power, as it aimed to undermine the enemy's economic resources and weaken them psychologically. However, the effects of this strategy went beyond the military aspect, which aimed to achieve a quick victory and weaken the enemy's power. The results of this policy revealed a devastating impact on cities and civilians, leading to radical changes in the demographic and social composition of the region.
