Jamil al-Rawi and his military and political role in the Hijaz and Iraq, 1891– 1950

Abstract

The study of personalities has occupied a large space in the field of historical studies, especially personalities who have emerged in various political, administrative and military aspects,It is known that people influence and are influenced by political events, whether that influence is positive or negative. In addition to that, studying these personalities opens a wide space for learning about the issues and developments that they witnessed. There are many of these figures that have not been highlighted due to the scarcity of sources or the difference of opinions about them. Since the history of contemporary Iraq is full of important figures, this research came to focus on an Iraqi figure who played a prominent and significant role at the military and political levels in modern Iraqi history: Jamil al-Rawi, the subject of our research, entitled "Jamil al-Rawi and His Military and Political Role in the Hijaz and Iraq 1891-1950." He is one of the important figures who witnessed the beginning of the emergence of the Iraqi Kingdom and significantly influenced the course of political life during the royal era. He also contributed to foreign policy through his diplomatic work abroad.
