Abstract

The problem addressed by this study is the weakness among some Master's students at Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'azzam Shah International Islamic University in utilizing previous studies, particularly those related to Islamic jurisprudence and its principles, which negatively impacts the originality and academic quality of their research. This study aims to demonstrate the importance of previous studies in constructing scientific research, clarifying their role in defining the research problem, formulating research questions, clarifying concepts and terminology, and identifying areas requiring further investigation. The study also aims to highlight the impact of critical analysis of previous studies on achieving scientific contribution, avoiding duplication, and selecting appropriate methodologies, while clarifying the role of the academic supervisor in guiding the researcher. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach and concluded that the effective use of previous studies contributes to raising the quality of scientific research and enhancing its results.
