Abstract

This research aims to identify: 1- Emotional availability the Preparatory school students. 2- The significance of the difference in emotional availability among preparatory school students according to the variables of gender (male-female) and academic track (scientific-literary). The sample consisted of (400) male and female preparatory school students from both the scientific and literary tracks. To achieve the research objectives, the Loewenstein Emotional Availability Scale (Loewenstein, 1996) was adopted. The data were analyzed using the t-test for one sample and two independent samples, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and the z-test. The following results were obtained: A- The research sample possesses emotional availability. B- There is a statistically significant difference in emotional availability according to the gender variable (male-female), favoring females, and according to the academic track variable (humanities-scientific), favoring humanities students. Based on the research findings The two researchers made some recommendations and suggested a set of proposals.
