Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the spatial variation of household solid waste in Al-Hashimiyah City, a medium-sized urban center experiencing rapid population growth. The research followed a descriptive-analytical approach and relied on a field questionnaire targeting 465 households. It examined variables such as household size, education level, and average per capita waste generation. The results revealed clear disparities in waste quantities among neighborhoods: Al-Zahraa recorded the highest waste amount (6,639.6 kg/day) and the highest per capita rate (1.2 kg/person/day), while Al-Amir ranked last. A positive correlation was found between household size and waste volume. The study concluded that population density significantly affects the spatial variation of household waste. It recommended developing local waste management policies that consider spatial disparities, alongside raising public awareness on waste reduction and source separation
