Abstract

This study aims to explore the significance of the cultural references that the creative artist draws upon in his cultural and artistic production. The study focuses on the works of the poet Jawad Al-Hattab by examining the cultural references within his poetry through various analyses, including social, historical, religious, and ideological contexts that permeate his verses. The research seeks to clarify the role of these cultural references in shaping Al-Hattab's poetic experience and his engagement with social, political, religious, and traditional issues. This is clearly reflected in his poetry through themes, characters, narrative language, the environment, and his style of reminiscing about childhood and youth. The elements of homeland, nature, and nostalgia for the past are prominently featured in his work, blending modernity with the past in a distinctive poetic style.
