Abstract

The current research aims to identify hoarding disorder in the elderly, and to know its prevalence among them, in addition to identifying statistical differences between males and females in the research sample, and this study contributes to highlighting the problem of hoarding among the elderly, which supports early diagnosis efforts and the development of appropriate therapeutic interventions for this age group To achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers built a special scale for hoarding disorder based on the standards of the Fifth Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the scale included 25 items, and Its psychometric properties, including honesty, stability and discrimination, to calculate stability, Cronbach alpha and half-segmentation methods were used, where the results showed that the scale has a high degree of stability, reflecting its efficiency to measure hoarding disorder, and the scale was applied to the study sample consisting of 500 retired elderly individuals, including males and females, and the sample was chosen randomly and the results showed that there is a remarkable prevalence of hoarding disorder among the elderly, with statistically significant differences between the sexes and the results were as follows
