Abstract

The importance of the study comes from the fact that it sheds light on an important historical era in the history of French colonization of a vital part of the Asian continent, seeking to compete with European powers. Since the beginning of the sixteenth century, some European countries interested in geographical exploration began to intensify their colonial activity with the aim of opening new markets and linking them to their economy. And it controlled the spice trade and the goods of the East. France was one of those European colonial powers that was interested in building its empire in an effort to compete with those powers. Commercial companies were one of the vital means that contributed to extending colonial influence, and on this basis, the ambitious French presence in the East contributed to the establishment of the French East India Company to monopolize the trade in spices and products of the East and control new regions in the East, and enter into competition with the British powers present in those areas. Which contributed to the demise of the French East India Company in the East.
