Abstract

The Argument of the Righteous (Burhan al-Siddiqin) is one of the most significant ontological arguments that prove the existence of God through knowledge of His essence. Among the prominent philosophers who have explored this argument in their philosophical studies are Mulla Sadra, Ibn Sina, and various Muslim philosophers, particularly Allama Al-Tabataba’i. Allama Al-Tabataba’i precisely defined this argument in his philosophical works and applied it remarkably in his well-known exegesis, Al-Mizan.

Based on this, the present study has been chosen to explore the topic through two main dimensions:

  1. Theoretical Aspect: This section delves into the nature of the argument, covering its linguistic and terminological definitions, its derivatives, and related concepts.
  2. Applied Aspect: This section examines the application of the Argument of the Righteous in Al-Mizan by Allama Al-Tabataba’i, based on relevant Quranic verses. The findings reveal that Allama Al-Tabataba’i had a profound understanding of this argument and skillfully employed it in his exegesis of Quranic verses. Moreover, he demonstrated exceptional innovation in this field.
