The Use of Religious Heritage in Contemporary Literary Texts (The Iraqi Novel as a Model) (Riyam and Kafa - The Pomegranate Tree Alone - Absent)

Abstract

Therefore, in this study, we seek to trace the trends in the utilization of heritage to further analyze the nature of this opposition and its impact on the liberal movement. This is achieved by surveying readers of studies and analyses of scientific research that engage with heritage and its application in the contemporary context, thus contributing to enriching the critical debate surrounding this issue. Authenticity and innovation in our contemporary literary movement, and the observed use of heritage in all its forms in contemporary literary texts and works, is one of the most prominent issues that has occupied a wide space in modern Arabic literature. This dialectical relationship represents a fundamental axis in understanding the transformations and trends of contemporary literary texts. The contemporary writer does not write fromIt is not a void, but rather belongs to a heritage deeply rooted in the writer's origins and the society to which he belongs. He lives and confronts—at the same time—a volatile reality with demands that impose upon him new modes of expression. We find this utilization in some selected examples of Iraqi novels that incorporate religious heritage in all its forms, from Quranic texts to... Whether it be a biblical or biblical text, a religious or mystical figure, prayers, or religious customs and rituals practiced in a particular society or place, the text should be used explicitly or quoted. The reasons for this use, the idea the novelist wants to convey to the reader, and how it is employed—directly, symbolically, or through a persona—are all relevant. Is this use a means of conveying a specific message, or simply a habit that has been ingrained, or is it due to the prevailing social conditions during the period in which the novel was written? Since religious heritage consists of deeply rooted beliefs in the human mind and is difficult to break free from, we find that the novelist's invocation of this heritage serves to give the novel a certain character. Realistically, and this is what is required: realism and seriousness in the novel. This realism requires invoking heritage to demonstrate a psychological, artistic, or social impact. Hence, we find that it has taken up space within the text of the novel, and the method followed is descriptive and analytical
