Future Directions of Educational Research in the Field of Teaching Arabic

Abstract

This research aimed to identify future trends in educational research in the field of Arabic language teaching by exploring the factors influencing these trends across three dimensions: (topics, methodologies, and research gaps). The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach and utilized a questionnaire administered to a sample of 91 participants, including educational experts and researchers. The research yielded several key findings, most notably: the rapid advancement of digital technologies and artificial intelligence is among the most significant factors influencing future trends in educational research in Arabic language teaching, followed by demographic, social, and economic shifts, and then ideological and cultural transformations within the digital age. Furthermore, the most important future thematic trends are those related to the application of digital technology and artificial intelligence in teaching Arabic. Methodologically, the anticipated trend is towards the use of simulation-based methodologies and AI-generated data, in addition to predictive approaches and machine learning-based models.
