Maqama is one of the literary arts that took on a large space and wide resonance when it appeared. People were preoccupied with it and dazzled them until it became its own seat where people gathered to hear that imaginary story that occupied their minds as it transported them in its imaginary world to worlds in which it dragged them to listen to its narrator or its author. It tells them the stories of its characters under names they are familiar with, but they do not exist on the ground in reality, so this art has its authors, through whose hands the establishment takes on the realm of preaching and guidance at times, and sarcasm and disdain of the situation in a hidden way at other times, and all of that permeates its fun and interesting style that attracts attention. To him, as long as the medium adopted by the Maqama is language, it must invest all its productive energies, its literary arts, and its various sciences. Rhetoric was the science upon which the writers of the Maqama relied, so they employed various methods in it, including metonymy, the subject of our research.
