Abstract

Secondary school students suffer from many problems related to learning the English language, and a number of high school students withdraw from distinguished schools due to the difficulty of studying in the English language. Therefore, the study aimed to identify writing anxiety among secondary school students, and the difference in writing anxiety between students in traditional schools and students in distinguished schools. To achieve the objectives of the study, the comparative descriptive approach was used, and the scale (Al-Fartusi, 2017) was adopted after adapting it to the secondary stage and extracting validity and reliability. A stratified random sample was selected from the secondary schools of the Baghdad education directorates, amounting to (200) male and female students. The results of the study concluded that secondary school students suffer from writing anxiety and that there is a difference in writing anxiety in favor of distinguished schools. The study recommended a number of recommendations and proposals.
